Our first full day in Bajia ("Bay") de Los Angeles. We left at about
8:30 for a boat trip to Rincon. After a quick snorkeling lesson, we were off
and swimming in the water, checking out the fish, rocks, and shells. I was quite
proud of myself for doing better today than yesterday. I was more relaxed and
actually saw and learned what the Panamic Sergeant Major looked like. A small
oval shaped fish with a silvery blue belly and black and yellow vertical stripes
on its back. There were tons of other fish, but I couldn’t remember what
they looked like when I got out of the water, got back to the station, got changed
and went looking in the fish book. I swore to myself that tomorrow when I swam,
I’d remember what the fish looked like.
The temperature was hot, hot, hot and humid and the water was very warm, about 90 degrees or so.

In the afternoon, Jeff and I took out a two man kayak and paddled out to the light house on the point. While we did that, two others actually swam out and back. Boy, was I ever impressed with them! |
At the end of the point where the lighthouse is, a pile of pelicans
liked to hang out. Jeff and I tried to get close, but they didn't like that
and one by one they would slip into the water and swim away. So we left them
alone.
